Many people believe diabetes only affects obese people in wealthy nations with a rich diet, that could not be farther from the truth.
At the top of the list of nations afflicted with type 2 diabetes
is India, with the high diabetic population, followed by China, United states, Brazil, Russia and Mexico. On a per capita basis, Nauru, a small South Pacific Island ranks as number one, rounding out the top five are the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Kuwait. As can be seen the seriousness of diabetes impacts all nations, creeds, colors, and ethnic groups. While it is more common in some groups, none are out of it’s reach.
In fact The World Health
Organization (WHO) has classified diabetes as an epidemic, and as would make sense given the information above, 80% of new diabetes cases will appear in developing countries by 2025.
